Ned Mitchell is the Head of Originals for Africa and the Middle East at Prime Video & Amazon Studios, where he is responsible for directing the overall creative and talent strategy and overseeing commissioning, development, and production for Amazon’s original programming, including movies, scripted and unscripted TV series. The team’s recently announced titles include Jáde Osiberu’s epic drama feature Gangs of Lagos starring Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi-Wellington and Chiké, and a Nigerian version of worldwide hit comedy competition format LOL: Last One Laughing starring Basketmouth and a cast of the country’s biggest comedy stars. Ned also oversees Amazon Studios’ growing team of local executives and overall studio expansion in the regions’ vibrant production hubs. He previously launched and oversaw Prime Video’s Local Originals programs in the Netherlands and Nordic countries, before which he managed Amazon’s local language originals creative strategy outside the US. Ned holds a BA from Yale University and an MBA from UCLA.
